Return to the King James Bible

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Matthew 5:6

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not hearken. Jeremiah 6:16,17

This article is meant to be an outreach to seekers of the truth. It is meant to direct you toward the only real source of truth; Jesus Christ, the incarnate Word of God.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1-3…14

Those who claim to follow Christ readily recognize the Bible as the book which God has preserved in revealing Himself to mankind. The Bible is the handbook of faith for every doctrine that we cling to as Christians. God has given us this tangible source of instruction for our lives, and it is very important!

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalm 138:2

It is my understanding that today, over 300 versions of the Bible exist. Do you find this confusing? God is not the author of confusion (I Corinthians 14:33). It is a problem for sincere believers who wish to know exactly how God would instruct them! It can also lead to conflict concerning doctrine between churches or individuals. It can also promote ridicule from the unsaved, as they might suspect us to be confused about what we believe! Brethren, we will always be persecuted for our stand in the Lord, but let us not bring a reproach upon Christ by walking in error (I Peter 2:19,20).

Many are those who have ridiculed the King James Bible (KJV), even among professing believers. “Surely, among all Bible versions, the KJV cannot be the best one!” “Something in our modern tongue must be better than such archaic language.” These would be some of the more mild responses among the numerous typical reactions against the KJV.

Perhaps you have been “turned off” by those holding to a KJV-only position. Perhaps in their zeal to convey this message to you they spoke harshly, or incorrectly (James 1:20). Speaking rashly may tend to close ears; yet sinful man is, in general, always opposed to the truth. Please be patient enough to search beyond human frailties in your quest for God’s truth (John 4:23). I do also call myself a “King James only” advocate, but I need to define this term. What does it mean, or should it mean, to be a King James only Bible advocate?

Most importantly, a person’s salvation is not dependent upon which Bible version is being used. Salvation is a gift from God, resting solely upon one’s acceptance of the atoning blood of Jesus Christ. When you prayerfully consider this Bible version issue, please do not think that your salvation depends upon this subject.

            What “King James Bible only” means to me, is that of all Bible versions, only the KJV is the entirely complete and perfect Word of God which we are promised in Psalms 12:6,7;

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Psalms 12:6,7

Other Bibles will have some of God’s words, perhaps even many of God’s words, but they are far from complete and reliable. To live a Christian life that is honoring to God, we need to have all of that which He provided for us.

We need to grow in faith. We need to know God’s will, and the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5). While salvation itself may not rest in a Bible “version”, continuing in faith does. I believe that God’s Word shows us the path to a sure salvation, rather than eternal security. We need God’s instructions so that we will not deny Him, be deceived, or follow after another gospel. Please see our article, A Sure Salvation vs. Eternal Security.

Many such core beliefs (such as KJV only) are typically handed down through family or culture. Such was not the case for myself. I am, in fact, rather typical for my generation; being taught instead that the Bible version issue is fairly irrelevant, the KJV is out of date, and a believer’s sincerity is the most important thing. As a young Christian I asked for and received a New American Standard Bible (NASV), which was God’s Word to me for some 17 years (age 14-31 approximate).

As a Religion major in college, I was told that we have “lost” God’s Word, because we no longer have it in the original manuscripts. We were told to pity our poor, deceived congregations; alas, they mostly still clung to the KJV, not aware of how inferior it really is. We, of course, would be superior in our knowledge and translation of the Bible!

We generally accepted the teachings of our “learned” professors. Why should we doubt these educated “Christian” men and women? I’m sure that most of them were well-meaning, but very deceived. God warns us against having such an unhealthy respect of persons, and urges us to “try the spirits” before complying with them. We did not do that, and most young people will not! I thank God that by His power, I was kept from truly embracing those teachings which were contrary to the preserved Word of God. Please remember to read our Word of God  article for more personal testimony and scripture comparison.

The King James Bible came out in 1611, and for 270 years was nearly unanimously regarded by the world as God’s Word. The revised translation (RT) of the Bible was not brought forth because of the KJV inadequacy; it was brought forth on the pretense that the language of the Bible should be “updated.” In other words, the KJV was not being doubted for its authority or worth as God’s Word! The reasoning being presented was merely to modernize some of the language to make it more understandable. Doesn’t this sound reasonable? May be even desirable? If indeed this is what had actually happened, there would be almost no cause for protest! Those who defend the KJV really do not do so out of a love for Old English—they do it because of the belief that God chose to bring forth and preserve His Word in that way. One thing that most people do not know, is that the “Old English” language of the King James Bible had become obsolete by the year 1300 A.D.! Therefore, this type of English had not been in normal use for some 400-500 years prior to the bringing forth of the KJV! This language was chosen by the translators as being the best for bringing forth God’s Word.

As one might expect from Satan’s deceptions, a mere “language update” was not the intent of the Biblical revision committee (1871-1881) headed by Westcott and Hort. These men sought not only to alter some of the translated words, but they substituted corrupted manuscripts in place of the received text of the King James Bible. They altered the very foundation manuscripts, the writings given in Hebrew and Greek, by replacing them with inferior and rejected manuscripts! In fact, even the replacement manuscripts were largely manufactured by this committee; the originals of these texts being horribly mutilated, and seldom in agreement with each other.

When I was originally given my New American Standard Bible, I thought that I was the receiving the same instruction from it as was to be found in the KJV. I had been a Christian for many years, when I was finally alerted to the truth about the Bible version issue. This eventually led me to do a verse-by-verse comparison (KJV vs. NASV) during my daily devotions. Though many times the readings were roughly equivalent, I also found that significant doctrinal teachings had been changed! At times, whole verses had been dropped from a passage. I also found that relatively small changes in words or punctuation created vast differences in meaning! This is the subtlety by which Satan works. Sometimes a change in one passage would necessarily cause another part of scripture to be untrue! This creates confusion and/or doubt on the part of the reader, which is more evidence of the ungodly influence. Most do not realize that their very faith is being undermined!

It doesn’t take long to lose perspective. Memories fade or become jumbled over time. We can read all about history 400-500 years ago, but we tend to relate based upon our current perspectives. Those 500 years ago mark the time of the reformation of the organized church; the time when the protestant church officially began.

At this time, the Catholic Church firmly controlled Europe. The office of inquisition was being openly employed against all dissenters. Standing against the Catholic Church, even on a national level, showed great courage and conviction! England was really declaring its own war of independence by throwing off the authority of Rome. The Vatican sent the mighty Spanish armada to attack England in 1588; God brought forth a mighty storm to overthrow this fleet of ships. In 1605, the plot to blow up the British parliament was uncovered; some 36 kegs of gunpowder had been smuggled in below where the parliament met!

Britain’s stand against Rome was an honor to God; the Lord has therefore also promised to honor those who honor Him (I Samuel 2:30), and this promise was being fulfilled through the Lord’s manifold blessings upon King James, the British empire, and the King James Bible translation. It was from this point forward that the British Empire spread across the globe. The English language became a true world language, and at this time the sun never set on the British Empire!

The authority of the king. Many individuals throughout history have worked diligently in Biblical translation. We have gained much from these faithful men (such as Luther and Tyndale), and God used them greatly in bringing forth His complete Word. But God raises up kings and kingdoms, and there is something to be said for a translation receiving the initial authorization of a king. Let’s look at the scriptural support behind this idea of kingly authority.

In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes. Judges 21:25

The book of Judges is about a rebellious period in the history of Israel. As they rebelled, God would chasten them. Then they would repent, and God would send judges to deliver them from their enemy. 12 judges are named in this 400 year period.

            Judges 21:25 is a summation of the book. This was the condition which Israel found itself in, and it was not a good thing! Why am I sure of this? The evidence (fruit) given in this book ought to be enough. Yet there is also direct disobedience to the written Word which Israel would have had at this time. We find the key verse recorded in Deuteronomy 12:8;

Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes. Deuteronomy 12:8

God used the king of Egypt to provide a safe haven for Israel and His children (Genesis 45:17-20). God chose David to be king over Israel not only once, but also for times to come (Ezekiel 37:21-24). God used King Cyrus to build a house for the Lord, seen in Ezra 1:2. Nehemiah entreated King Artaxerxes to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Even the brutal King Nebuchadnezzar was used to chasten God’s people (Jeremiah 40:2,3), and God called him His servant (Jeremiah 25:9, 27:6, 43:10)!

In the New Testament, we are plainly shown God’s power in appointing the higher powers of kings or authority. Many have had “creative” ideas for translating God’s Word, but these thoughts are not necessarily from the Lord! The Word tells us that kings are appointed by God, and this carries a great weight of authority.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1

The translators. These were 54 men of superior ability in handling the languages they were translating. Some of these men spoke and wrote Greek/Latin/Hebrew as if it were their native language! The early 17th century was the high point of education in our world.

These men freely reviewed and benefited from the “outside” opinions of other learned men, as well as previous translation works such as the Geneva Bible, and the writings of William Tyndale. There were 6 translation groups, each covering certain books from the Bible. Every man had to work through his own translation of a given text! Then these were brought back together into the group for review, and final translation. Then the translated text was sent to the other groups for review and approval. Lastly, they were sent to the most outstanding of the translators for final editing. The process used by this group to translate the Word, meant that every Word of God was gone over for approval at least 14 times! Brethren, this was not the work or opinion of any one man. Under God’s direction, through King James, these translators worked to diligently bring froth the most accurate translation into the English language.

These men had the benefit of understanding how each word was being used in context, and this is the meaning which they conveyed. This is known as the historical meaning or use of a term. Since this time, all we can really do is open up a book of cross-language definitions, and pick one! The KJV translators knew how a word was being used in context, and brought forth the most accurate translation into English.

Word definition is another point of testimony against the work of the revision committee. These men altered even the foundation language of the manuscripts they claimed falsely to be “updating.” Today most of the Bible dictionaries contain altered Greek/Hebrew words, and altered definitions. While the KJV translators brought forth the most literal translation possible, revised translators used a technique called “dynamic equivalency.” This is meant to sound highly educated! Really, it simply means to put it in your own words; translate what you think it means! The schools of Gnosticism in Alexandria, Egypt, did not believe that Jesus is God; they freely altered early New Testament writings which reflected this view. Westcott and ort (revision committee) used these few manuscripts from Alexandria to build their work of revision upon. Truthfully, they were of one mind with those early “scholars” from Alexandria!

Bible preservation. Everything that the Christian faith rests upon comes from the Bible. We must believe God’s Word, all of it, or no part of it can hold validity.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. I Timothy 4:16

Our handbook of faith, the Bible, is filled with instructions and promises that we are to abide by and claim. Should we not know exactly what those words say? God is not the author of confusion (I Corinthians 14:33); our merciful heavenly Father has shown us the importance of His words, and promised to preserve them faithfully. Let’s examine what the Bible has to say regarding this subject, and what the implications are. These scriptures are but a very small portion of what could be listed!

Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Deuteronomy 4:2

We must know what God’s words are, and will know them. If we are commanded not to add to or diminish from His word, we must be able to know what those words are, right? God cannot command us to keep His Word without making it known to us, and preserving it. This He has done in the King James Bible. No “advanced education” is needed to comparatively examine the dozens (even hundreds) of Bible versions. When you do, you will easily observe the vast differences between them! On top of this, you will be exposed to a myriad of footnotes and definitions which have been added by supposedly scholarly men, causing great doubt and confusion as to what God actually gave us. These “scholars” do not believe that we still have God’s Word, and prove themselves to be false shepherds by breaking the Lord’s instruction regarding His Word. This instruction is repeated in Deuteronomy 12:32.

The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. Psalm 12:6,7

God’s words are pure, and refined. He has fashioned them perfectly, just as He intended! God has promised to preserve His words forever.

He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. Psalm 105:8

Our God made a covenant with us the word which He commanded to a thousand generations. God says it is the word; that is, only one word to a thousand generations! Yes, this well encompasses the entire period of creation from when God began giving us His written word (first given to Moses). God’s Word is unchanging!

Concerning thy testimonies, I have known of old that thou hast founded them for ever. Psalm 119:152

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalm 119:160

God founded His word (testimonies) for all time; they are unchanging, and have been absolute truth from the very start! Our God is not a liar, and keeps every one of His promises (Numbers 23:19). If you believe some parts of the Bible to be in error, how can you be sure of your salvation? New Bible versions contain many lies, and even invalidate fulfilled prophecies.

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name. Psalm 138:2

The Lord has magnified His word above all His name! We need a faith that is well-founded on truth. Experiences and perceptions will vary with the individual. And the deceitful feelings of our hearts are in no way the faith which God demands (see Jeremiah 17:9; Hebrews 11:6).

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Proverbs 30:5,6

Every word of God is pure; it is perfect, it cannot improve! We again find here the admonition to not add to God’s Word. I say that whenever we add to the Word, we diminish from it! Diminishing from the Word happens not only by leaving out words or sentences, but also by adding our own thoughts to what God has said; even when those additions are unfounded  by the scriptures.

One way this is done, is by qualifying God’s Word to be written to only a certain people, in a certain place and time (dispensations). Most of these so-named “dispensations” are not supported by the Bible! In this way, “learned” men add their own thoughts to God’s Word, and greatly diminish its relevance or application to God’s people.

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Isaiah 40:8

Amen! God’s Word shall stand forever! So why do men keep changing it? Do pastors really believe that God was unable to keep His promise to preserve it? The Holy Spirit is well able to quicken God’s Word in application to our lives! He will give us the understanding we need, even as our Lord Jesus promised that He would (John 16:13,14; I John 2:27).

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Matthew 4:4

This scripture is being quoted by the one who gave it (Jesus), from Deuteronomy 8:3. It is repeated again in Luke 4:4, as well. In this verse, we find more implications of Bible preservation. If man lives by every word that comes from God, isn’t it needful for us to know that we have them? Don’t we need to know exactly what they are, if we are to give an account of our lives to God, with eternal consequences looming? God could not expect our compliance with His wishes if He did not make them known to us! Praise God that His is faithful.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 5:18

God’s Word remains firm—right down to the smallest punctuation mark! Yet these are just what you will find missing in many places throughout new Bible “translations.” God preserved His Word for us in just the way He desired, and we dare not tamper with it! The removal or altering of seemingly small punctuation marks creates enormous differences in meaning. If you will do some diligent comparing, trusting God in prayer, He will open your eyes to notice the differences.

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matthew 24:35

Satan attacks God’s Word. Men will alter it, rather than uncomfortably conforming to it. Yet our God will preserve His words, even beyond the life of our visible universe. That is a promise; it is repeated often, and thus it is very important.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48

The words which God has spoken will judge us; therefore God will keep them perfectly, or He wouldn’t expect obedience.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. John 14:21-23

Our response to the Word is the vital part of our relationship with God the Father, and Jesus Christ the Son. We show our love for Jesus by keeping His commandments, so we had better be able to know what they are! When we do this, our obedience to the Word will bring fellowship with God; He will then make His abode with us. Such a promise as this therefore implies the need for perfect Bible preservation, for the promise hinges upon the diligent following of God’s words.

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. John 17:17

We are sanctified (to be purified; made holy, separate) by the truth, and God’s Word is truth. It is God who must give us His words and preserve them. We need to be sanctified to be of use to our Lord (II Timothy 2:21).

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Galatians 1:6-9

Serving another gospel causes a backslidden removal from grace, and is accursed. Isn’t this strong language? How will we know what “another gospel” is, unless we have the Bible to show us? When you are continually changing the words God said, there is no standard left by which to make this determination! Our loving God would not condemn us for behavior He hadn’t plainly warned us about!

Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. I Timothy 3:16

Where will we find this “doctrine” which we are to give heed to, and continue in? When we do this, we shall be saving ourselves and others—it just doesn’t get more important that that, brethren! We will find this doctrine in the preserved Word of God, all glory only to the Father for this!

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. II Timothy 3:16,17

Oh, how we lean upon these words for Bible authority! Scripture is given by God’s inspiration! Why does God give us this? That the man of God may be perfect! This also means that the words which God gives us are perfect. Educated men and their reasoning cannot improve on what our God has provided. The evidence is truly overwhelming; God used the King James Bible for the ultimate perfection and preservation of His Word. It is plainly seen in the manuscripts, in the lives of the translators, and most importantly, it is seen in the blessing God gave to England and the KJV in bringing forth the gospel unto the ends of the earth!

The witness of contention. These last 50 years have seen an ever increasing ridicule of the KJV. Many pastors or other church leaders were initially slow to criticize the KJV, for fear of offense to their congregation. Now, however, few punches are held back in a nearly perpetual attack! Bible schools and seminaries have rejected it. Church leaders seldom use it. Even so, an exclusive use of the KJV is indeed a rare animal to be found!

            A casual witness to such a state of affairs may seem to bode poorly for the KJV; a closer examination of scripture, however, proves otherwise! The ultimate rejection of God’s Word is a fulfillment of numerous prophecies in regard to these last days. Let’s look at some of these scriptures which give us a forecast of this spiritual time;

It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law. Psalm 119:126

Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest? For all those things hath mine hand made, and all those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word. He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine's blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not. Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed. Isaiah 66:1-5

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. Amos 8:11,12

I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth? Luke 18:8

Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Romans 1:25

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. II Thessalonians 2:9-12

Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; I Timothy 4:1

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. II Timothy 4:3,4

But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not…Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; II Peter 2:1-3…15

In this world, we are a peculiar people for the Lord. We are referred to as peculiar 6 times in the Bible; Exodus 19:5; Deuteronomy 14:2, 26:18; Psalm 135:4; Titus 2:14, and I Peter 2:9. As a peculiar people, we will always be an extreme minority. We are shown this plainly throughout God’s Word. If you are not finding evidence of this in your life and heart, something is seriously amiss! Do not content yourself with the approval you receive from others, even if those “others” are church leaders and fellow members. We need to seek that approval which only the Lord can give—this comes at a price.

For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise…But he that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth. II Corinthians 10:12…17,18

Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:8-12

Today, the King James Bible is opposed like no other Bible version. Sinful man wants no absolute directives of right and wrong, such as the KJV provides. By having this one true Word of God, we have an absolute standard that we are accountable to live by. The contention exhibited against the KJV is a testimony which favors it!

Did you know that Jesus Christ is the Word? Even as Christ himself is unchangeable (Exodus 3:14, Hebrews 13:8), so is His Word. This is not a figure of speech! Christ is the embodiment of the Word. Be careful when criticizing the Bible! You are attacking the very Lord who bought you!

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. I John 5:7

His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. Revelation 19:12,13

There is one question more that I really want to ask you; when you go to inquire of the Lord, how should He answer you? Do you actually want God to answer you for who He is, or for who you want Him to be? When I truly seek the Lord for answers (Matthew 5:6), I search through the Bible. God is well able to answer for Himself by the Word which He has provided! Yet if I find that passage, and then look it up in various Bible “versions” to see what I like best, am I looking for the words of the living God? It would seem, rather, that I am looking for the best “deal” according to learned men!

It should NOT be for us to choose the way in which God will respond—let God be God, and answer for Himself! When you are leafing through multiple versions for the answer you like best, you are acting as the Lord of your own life!

Did you know that the KJV has no profitable copyright? The King James Translation was considered to be God’s Word; therefore, no man should profit from it! Every other translation has such a copyright, with someone making money from it! Worse still, a certain portion of the words must be changed so that the “translator” can profit from it as a unique work. How’s that for supposed accuracy in translation?!? Well written were the words given to Peter, “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you…”

If you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, I implore you to return to the King James Bible. In it you will find all the words God intended for you, without the additions of men being done for money (I Timothy 6:10,11). Time is so very short. We need to be about our Father’s business, rather than idly wondering what that business might be. God has kept His Word! He has provided for us His perfect Word in the KJV. Let us cleave to this as our standard, and press on to perfection from here.

I had other objections to being connected with any state church or national religious establishment, which arose from the increased light which I had obtained through the reception of this truth, that the word of God is our only standard, and the Holy Spirit our only teacher. For as I now began to compare what I knew of the establishment in England and those on the Continent with this only true standard, the word of God, I found that all establishments, even because they are establishments, i.e., the world and the church mixed up together, not only contain in them the principles which necessarily must lead to departure from the word of God; but also, as long as they remain establishments, entirely preclude the acting throughout according to the Holy Scriptures.—George Mueller

WARNING:  To avoid Satan’s snares and deceptions, return to the pure Word of God; which is the King James Bible. Revised translations are not small word alterations meant to bring clarity! Major doctrinal changes have occurred, which will tend to bring doubt and destroy your faith. To follow these new “versions” of the truth, is to build your spiritual house upon sand, and become as the ones reflected in Matthew 7:21-23. Please use this entire passage, Matthew 7:21-27.

Satan means to deceive you into sincerely following his alternate “truth.” You are really being set up to fall, and serve the antichrist.

Pray and seek God diligently in this matter; for time is short. See also our Word of God section and the section on A Sure Salvation vs. Eternal Security.
